Anton & Michel   Fine Dining in Carmel By The Sea

    During our stay in Carmel By The Sea our hosts at Hofsas House recommended (and arranged our reservation) to visit Anton & Michel for dinner. We were in for a pleasant surprise and some very good food. Offering up California Cuisine and award winning wines, it is a perfect option for a full meal or small bites with a cocktails. 

Recently renovated in 2013, the space is warm and inviting with the earth tones and natural materials usage. The restaurant has floor to ceiling glass that allows an unobstructed view out to their fountain which creates a very lovely focal point to the space. Smaller more intimate spaces are created with columns wrapped in stone and finished with glass keeping the flow of the rooms visually clear while adding more private areas for diners.

We started our evening off with a Hawaiian Tuna Tartar appetizer with avocado, soy-citrus dressing, wasabi cream, sesame crackers. It was light, fresh and full of flavor. A perfect starter to our meal and a hint as to what was to follow.

Since we were on the coast I opted for the Grilled Prawns which were a special for the evening. They were served on a Basil Fettuccine with mushrooms, oven roasted tomatoes and garnished with scallions. The prawns were cook to perfection!

Anton & Michel

My husband loves duck so his dinner selection was a given. The Maple Leaf Duck Breast was cooked med rare in a sun dried cherry sauce and was accompanied with grilled asparagus, roasted peppers, sweet potato and a green onion mash. It was nothing short of amazing!

Looking over the dessert menu I had to get something. If it was half as good as our entrees I knew it would be great. The Lemon Tarte with crème chantilly was calling my name, light and full of flavor, it was the perfect finish to our meal.

I love when a restaurant gets it right, from the interior decor to the service right down to the food. It truly makes for a total experience and Anton & Michel has that. Congrats on the recent remodel, amazing menu and for standing out in a city known for it's amazing dining choices.
