Step back in Time aboard The Queen Mary

Step back in Time aboard The Queen Mary

As a Southern California native, I have just recently started visiting the many places I would refer to as 'tourist" attractions. One of those such places is The Queen Mary in Long Beach. Over the past couple years I have had the chance to board and look around a bit, never really spending a full day to explore all it has to offer. This past weekend we were invite to spend the night and enjoy some of the tours offered on board.

Have you ever stayed overnight on the ship? Wonder if the stories of her being haunted are really true? What better time than any to grab your partner and plan the perfect little get a way where you don't have to drive anywhere to do so much!

In all her glory, did you know she is larger than the Titanic? The Queen Mary Measures in at 1019' long. Levels with the portholes are the State Rooms/suites- there are 346 room in all.

We really enjoyed our overnight stay on the ship, I was very pleasantly surprised to be honest. From the service at the front desk to the amazing food at Sir Winston's the experience was restful, laid back and I actually got a great nights sleep. We got there early and since check in is at 4 p.m. we enjoyed a light lunch at Chelsea Chowder House and then used our Grand Voyage Passport for the Haunted Encounters Tour (see daily tour times). With shows every 30 minutes we were not rushed to enjoyed the 4-D Theater showing of Planet Earth: Shallow Seas and explored the engine room at our own pace. They also offer a self guided audio tour that takes around an hour and a half to experience.

Exploring the ship on our own was really interesting too, it's great how many places are open to the public to discover. We even got a chance to do some wine tasting, you can find Malibu Wines in the Main Hall on the Promenade Deck. With such a rich history, The Queen Mary has a universal, from it's amazing history to the Art Deco architecture, there is something for everyone. So the verdict, would I stay again or recommend it? Absolutely.

The closest you will get to the bow of the ship on the interior side, it's also said to be the most haunted. Do you believe?

One of the many areas we explored on the Paranormal Tour onboard the ship. Room B340 is no longer available for overnight stays but is referred to the most haunted space on the ship, sweet dreams.
