2019 Holiday Events at the Aquarium of the Pacific
The Aquarium and its animals are getting into the holiday spirit with events and activity being offered to people of all ages to enjoy. Read about the different holiday themed events happening this December as well as some exciting camps being offered for the kids providing some close up learning opportunities to foster their interest in sea life.
Aquarium Holidays
Aquarium Holidays features special holiday décor, a display of gingerbread houses, daily Penguin Parades at 10 a.m., holiday shopping, snowfall in the Great Hall, a special holiday menu in Café Scuba, and daily appearances by Santa Diver and the Aquarium characters in their holiday outfits. The aquarium steps it up even more on the weekends with a snow play area and photo opportunities with Santa. Hanukkah storytelling with opportunities to play dreidel will be presented on select dates. Saturday, December 7, through Monday, December 23, 2019 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Holiday Treats for the Animals
In celebration of the holiday season, Santa Diver will be delivering an ocean of gifts to the Aquarium of the Pacific for its animals, including penguins, sea otters, seals, sea lions, lorikeets, and fish. Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8, 2019 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Night Dive presents New Year’s Eve
Ring in 2020 at the New Year’s Eve Night Dive at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Featuring live bands playing in the Great Hall and DJs spinning in the galleries, this event is brought to you by the team that brings you Night Dive. This event will include dancing, a cash bar, small-bite appetizers for sale throughout the Aquarium, and a midnight countdown. 8:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. Open to ages 18+ only Cost: $34.95 per person, $29.95 per Aquarium member.
Cost: General Admission--$34.95 adult (12+), $31.95 senior (62+), $24.95 child (3-11), and free for children under age 3 and Aquarium members, prices subject to change. Winter Camp Programs
This winter enroll your children in winter day camps specially tailored to different age ranges from five to fifteen. During the Aquarium’s Sea Squirt Winter Camp, Winter Day Camp, and Winter Teen Overnight, children and teens can explore different animals and regions of the Pacific Ocean. *Pre-Registration required for all camps.
Sea Squirt Winter Day Camp: For ages five and six, this introductory course covers the lives and the habitats of wiggly fish and furry mammals that exists in the Pacific Ocean. Aquarium staff members will guide campers as they participate in crafts, games, and tours. Sea Squirt Winter Day Camp allows young children to explore, interact, and develop questions independently. Children will be able to touch the animals in the private classroom touch pool. Sea Squirt Day Camp: December 26-27, 2019, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. $80.00 per child ($65.00 per member child)
The Aquarium’s Winter Day Camp: For ages seven to twelve. This day camp will take children on an adventure into the depths of the Pacific Ocean through interactive learning at the Aquarium. Students will be able to explore marine life through hands-on activities, including games and crafts. They also visit behind-the-scenes areas, meet animal care staff members, and help feed the animals that call the Aquarium home. Topics for Winter Day Camp include cold-water habitats, penguins, and polar bears. Winter Day Camp: January 2-3, 2020, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. $100.00 per child ($75.00 per Aquarium member child)
Night sleeping with the fishes: This teens-only event for ages thirteen to fifteen. Participants can start the night with a pizza party before becoming an ocean explorer to discover the mysteries of the deep sea. This overnight camp program includes Aquarium exploration, hands-on activities, pizza party, light snack, cereal breakfast, and a souvenir T-shirt. Winter Teen Overnight: December 30, 2019, 5:00 p.m. – December 31, 2019 $90.00 ($80.00 per Aquarium member teen)
