This is one of my must visits this summer and it looks like we couldn't have picked a better time to visit! SeaWorld San Diego has some pretty big plans for 2017 and 2018 as you will see. With it's ever evolving park and focus on preservation and education, these new additions will be a combination of a new dark ride and a large aquarium complex. Guests will board "submarine" vehicles that allow them to see into the aquarium's tanks, with information being displayed on on-board interactive screens.
Are you ready to dive in to SeaWorld’s new realm of deep-sea discovery, Ocean Explore? With multiple undersea bases featuring unique aquariums and digital technology, guest will be able to unlock the ocean’s greatest mysteries and plunge to new depths on the interactive ride Submarine Quest. Get up close to some of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures like a giant Pacific octopus, the elusive moray eels and say Kon'nichiwa to Japanese spider crabs that measure nine feet from claw to claw! Then take a spin on three new family-friendly rides inspired by the sea.
Also new for 2017! Orca Encounter. Come experience a whole new way to connect with the ocean’s most powerful predator. Witness their natural behaviors up close while an expansive infinity screen brings the killer whales’ story to life in exciting, immersive detail. Gain a deeper appreciation of orcas as you learn about their hunting techniques and complex communication codes. Get a closer look at the role of family and the importance of play. Excite your sense of wonder and feel the connection between these whales and our oceans. Experience killer whales from around the world like never before at SeaWorld’s all-new Orca Encounter.
Along with the exciting new attraction and Orca Encounter, don't miss the Electric Ocean a nighttime celebration happening June 17th thru September 4th.
Surf beyond your expectations as the sea comes alive at night and dive into Electric Ocean, SeaWorld’s all-new summer nighttime celebration! Electric Ocean is an outrageous festival of lights, music, and life that’s as vibrant as the sea itself. Give yourself permission to voyage into exotic underwater worlds that come alive as the sun sets with brilliant energy, electrifying dance music, and dazzling light. Join live performers inspired by playful sea creatures at the party along the shore where world-class DJ’s transform the night into an all-ages club beneath the waves.

But that's not all Sea World has planned.....Coming 2018! The Electric Eel Roller Coaster. Featuring multiple-launch elements, high-energy twists, and heart-pounding loops and inversions, this coaster will be the tallest and fastest in SeaWorld San Diego history.
Multiple-launch experiences will propel riders forward and backward as they speed through the ride’s station house accelerating to more than 60 miles per hour in seconds. Riders then rocket skyward 150 feet where they will brave an inverted “heartline” roll and a twisting loop for an exciting feeling of airtime as riders crest the top before breathlessly returning to the station. This adrenaline-pumping coaster will offer riders the only upside-down view of Mission Bay.
