15 Tips to Maximize Your Day at Disneyland

15+ Tips to Maximize Your Day at Disneyland

It’s about to get REAL at Disneyland with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge just a little more than a month away from it’s soft opening. Reservations will be free for those who have a hotel reservation between May 31 and June 23 OR starting May 2nd you can get a reservation with a valid park ticket or annual pass grated you are not blocked out. You must have a Disney Account to register for a reservation so be sure to create one before registration opens at 10 a.m. PT. Will you be one of the thousands making the trek to the resort to get a first look?

We all can imagine the park will be packed this summer and this new land will only add to the amount of visitors. The daily question that will be on everyones lips will be….is it crowded? Or is the park at capacity more like it. How about instead of asking how are the crowds, ask how can you manage the crowds that will inevitably be there? I've got some serious ways to manage the crowds while still creating some out of this world memories! Maximize your day by doing the following:

  • Buy your tickets online, avoid the wait at the ticket booths

  • Be sure if you are bringing a stroller it meets the new size limitations INFO HERE

  • Max Pass will be a major equalizer, $15 per day, per ticket . Save time in line at popular attractions and entertainment by making Disney FASTPASS selections on your mobile device* using the Disneyland app while in the parks. Guests with Park Hopper Tickets can make selections for attractions and entertainment in both theme parks. Disney FASTPASS service and Disney MaxPass are unavailable for attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge BONUS: Max Pass Includes unlimited Disney PhotoPass photo downloads from the day.

  • Download the Disney Play app to keep entertained in line, best part it's free! There are many ways you can use the Play Disney Parks app while visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Get ready to bring your adventure to life in the following ways:

    • Translate galactic languages—both written and spoken.

    • Discover precious cargo and digital goods as you scan objects all around the spaceport—including items hidden inside space-shipping crates and containers.

    • Tune into communications sent by the planet’s many residents to uncover stories and secrets throughout the land—and unscramble transmissions being sent from far, far away.

    • Use the Play Disney Parks app to hack into the land’s many devices, control panels and droids.

  • Be there for rope drop and have a plan

  • Grab a Fuel rod to charge your phone with the easy of exchanges in both parks. Locations can be found on the Disneyland App

  • Utilize Mobil food ordering: All you need is your phone and the Disneyland mobile app

  • Travel light! Utilize lockers for your extra clothes and souvenirs

  • Be sure to check your pass and if it is valid the day you are visiting and which park(s)

  • Follow Disneyland Today on Twitter for parking updates

  • Pack some snacks and drinks (no glass containers)

  • Utilize Fastpass (if you don’t have Max Pass) It’s Free!

In between ride return times? We can’t control wait times but we can enjoy the park by searching out places that are overlooked by the crowds and can make for some fun times with the family while getting those great photo memories. More ways to enjoy the park on a busy day:

  • For the princess, the Royal Hall has shorter wait times leading up to the parade times. You will get to meet up to 3 princesses at one time. You can see which ones will be inside via the Disneyland App (subject to change/as they rotate for breaks). Looking to meet more characters, find them on the Disneyland App!

  • Tarzan’s Treehouse is a fun adventure with some amazing views of the park, Pirate’s Liar on Tom Sayers island has many caves along with places to climb and explore.

  • Star Wars Launch Bay is a great place to escape the heat and check out some great Star Wars props, video games and meet some interesting characters too.

  • Take a ride on the Sailing Ship Columbia or Mark Twains Riverboat. The Disneyland Railroad or Monorail are also great ways to take a load off and take in the sights of the park with minimal waits. Over in Disney California Adventure check out the Redwood Creek trail, it’s a great ride alternative while waiting for your next attraction time to come up!

  • Try your luck at the Games of Pixar Pier where you can pay to play at four different game stops for prizes. Game card required to play and available at the machines next to the game booths.

  • Animation Academy is a favorite of our! Learn to sketch a Disney character, hang out with Crush from Finding Nemo at Turtle Talk and even met the Frozen Sisters. Located in Hollywood land in DCA.

Already in a ride queue? I recommend using the Disney Play App to pass the time. It has a great game to play on your phone with the family and helps make the wait time go quicker! For example: Peter Pans Flight~ Once you are under the canopy, a scavenger hunt begins. At the end, Tinker Bell May surprise you a few minutes before you board.
